Have you got your Temporary Events Notices in place for Christmas 2023?

With the festive season fast approaching, now is the time to lodge Temporary Event Notices to maximise trade in the lead up to Christmas.

TENs can be used to extend your hours, increase your capacity, or disapply conditions which might otherwise hamper trade at this busy time of year. A premises can, in 2023, apply for 20 TENs covering a total of 26 days.

Requests for TENs need to be submitted at least 10 working days before the event.  ‘Late’ TENs can be lodged no later than 5 working days before an event, but caution should be exercised around their use, because if a counter notice is served to a ‘late’ TEN there is no scope for a hearing and so will be automatically be rejected.

However, from 1 January 2024, the TEN allowance will reduce to pre-pandemic levels and so from that date onwards only 15 TENs per year will be permitted, covering a maximum number of 20 days.
