Paul is a Partner in our Tax and Estate Planning Team.
Areas of Expertise
Paul specialises in all aspects of tax and estate work, with a particular focus on the succession of family businesses.
His work includes advising on the use of Wills and Trusts for succession planning as well as asset ownership structures to maximise tax efficiency. Paul also advises on mental capacity issues, care home fee planning and also regularly advises on contentious trust and estate matters including Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975 claims.
Paul regularly acts for high net worth individuals including those appearing on the Times Rich List and has been quoted in both the national and local press, as well as specialist publications, on succession issues.
He also specialises in tax disclosure work. Paul’s understanding of taxation from a legitimate planning perspective allows him to identify issues clients might have when faced with a disclosure or investigation. Indeed he often identifies potential historic tax issues for clients when discussing their future planning.
As well as making many voluntary disclosures for clients through the Worldwide Disclosure Facility and other HMRC tax disclosure facilities, Paul also works on major tax investigations including matters involving false invoicing, crytocurrency gain, property income and offshore structures.
