Home / Kuits advises on two-year renewal of The Good, The Bad & The Football presenter contracts
2nd September 2026
Manchester commercial law firm Kuits has advised Nicky Butt and Paul Scholes on the renewal of their presenter agreements for hit podcast The Good, The Bad & The Football, which has been signed up for a further two years.
The renewal follows a standout first year for the show, which sees former Manchester United teammates Nicky Butt and Paul Scholes joined by presenter and comedian Paddy McGuinness for candid football conversation, humour and insight. Produced by Platform Media, the podcast has built a substantial audience across video, social and audio platforms, achieving more than 750 million cross-social views, 20 million longform views and listens, and 180,000 YouTube subscribers in its first 12 months.
Kuits’ commercial team supported Nicky and Paul on the contractual arrangements underpinning the renewal.
The Good, The Bad & The Football will continue for at least another two years with Platform Media, with season two and beyond set to feature more guests from across football and entertainment. The show has also moved to a new studio inspired by a retro working men’s club, designed to create a distinctive and recognisable setting across full episodes, clips and social content.
Darcy MacMillan, commercial solicitor at Kuits, said: “We are delighted to have continued supporting Nicky and Paul as The Good, The Bad & The Football enters its next chapter. The show’s rapid growth demonstrates the strength of its format, the chemistry between its presenters and the appetite for authentic, personality-led sports content. Our role was to ensure the renewal agreements provided the right commercial framework for Nicky and Paul as the podcast continues to develop its audience and profile.”
Kuits has previously advised Nicky and Paul on media and presenter agreements connected to their podcast work, including the original presenter agreements for The Good, The Bad & The Football. The latest renewal further demonstrates the firm’s experience in advising talent, entrepreneurs and content creators on commercial contracts in the media, sport and entertainment sectors.
Rob Buckley, Partner and Head of Commercial at Kuits, added: “Podcasts and digital-first content formats are now major commercial platforms in their own right. For presenters and rights holders, it is vital that agreements are carefully structured from the outset and kept under review as a show grows. We are proud to continue supporting Nicky and Paul on this.”
The Good, The Bad & The Football is hosted by Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt and Paddy McGuinness, with new episodes released weekly. The show combines football debate, behind-the-scenes insight and humour, with guests from across football and entertainment.
