Who we are and why you should want to train with us

Kuits is a leading and UK200-listed commercial law firm based in Manchester, in the North West of England.

Our current Glassdoor rating is 4. 5 – and 97% of our former colleagues would recommend us as an employer.

We provide trusted legal and commercial advice to businesses, their owners and high net-worth individuals, promoting the growth and success of the North-West region of the UK.

Our approach is to recruit, train and develop the best people to understand their needs and objectives of our clients and so provide the best advice for them.

Our aim is to build relationships and , ultimately, to become trusted advisors to our clients.

Our clients choose to work with us because we:

  • recruit and train the best team members and advisors in the North West
  • go beyond the technical to offer sharp commercial acumen and innovative solutions to complex problems
  • care about our people, our clients and our community.

People choose to train with us because post training contract, our retention rates are deliberately high as we are looking for people who want to not only begin their career with Kuits, but who will stay and continue to develop both their careers and the success of the practice.

Many of our existing fee earners and Partners joined us first as trainee solicitors and we believe that, amongst other things, these values of team work and shared understanding of goals really help contribute to our success.

Training Contract Applications 2025

The recent changes in qualification routes to becoming a solicitor means that we are able to offer several pathways to career progression at Kuits, which in turn helps us support our aim to develop and benefit from improved diversity in our workplace.

We offer training contracts to graduates who are completing (or have completed) their law degree or conversion course (Graduate Diploma in Law).

Training contracts last for two years, during which time you will spend 6 months in 4 practice areas, working closely with some of the most highly ranked professionals in the North West.

We also welcome applicants who have successfully completed the SQE 1 qualification. Our training contract will provide financial support to undertake SQE 2 studies and qualifying work experience (QWE). Please note that, irrespective of any time to count , the training contract with Kuits will be for two years.

As from 2025, we are very pleased to offer a qualification route through the Level 7 Graduate Solicitor Apprenticeship. This route is for people with a degree who want to qualify as a solicitor. In partnership with our preferred training provider, you will undertake SQE 1 and SQE2 studies whilst completing QWE over a 27-33 month training contract.

So what do we look for in our trainees?

To maintain our success, we need personalities who are bright, enthusiastic, committed, hard- working, and who are willing to take on responsibility at an early stage in their career.

A training contract at Kuits provides you with early exposure to clients and the opportunity to learn and develop skills as a trusted advisor from day 1.

Here’s what some of our current trainees say:

“Eight weeks in, life as a trainee with the Commercial Property team (my first seat) has exceeded my expectations.  The work is varied and interesting and I have been given plenty of responsibility to run matters with the guidance and support of members of the team. Everyone, from secretaries to partners are friendly and approachable and happy to assist. I am currently working closely with my supervising partner and the Corporate team on the property aspects of a business transaction, as well as drafting leases and licences to assign and working on larger projects. The team also hold weekly training sessions which is great for building on the practical experience I have so far gained. “

“I get to shadow and work closely with experienced solicitors on large development projects, where I have had the opportunity to contribute and feel part of a team. I have regular access to partners who help monitor and supervise your training and workload. We have also been afforded regular training sessions which foster and update our legal knowledge. Overall, life as a trainee at Kuits has been an exciting experience.”

“The great thing about Kuits is that I get to work with some excellent, big-name clients, while also receiving real responsibility from an early stage. From my first seat I was given my own cases to run, but there is always an experienced lawyer on hand to provide guidance when it is needed.”

“Trainees at Kuits are central to the social side of the firm. We are involved in organising the Christmas party as well as various other networking and firm events throughout the year.”

If you think that we are the sort of firm that you would like to work for and that which, in turn, would benefit from your energy and enthusiasm then we’d like to hear from you.
