Tobias is a Solicitor in the Commercial Property and Licensing departments.
Areas of Expertise
Tobias specialises in planning law and policy with particular expertise in green belt, listed buildings and affordable housing/CIL. This includes planning applications, lawful development certificates, prior approval, appeals and enforcement. Tobias has experience in helping developers prepare, consent and defend all scales and types of development: from garden sheds to nuclear power stations.
Recent highlights include:
- Acting for Ineos Group in a successful application for a circa £1bn Development Consent Order;
- Successfully resisting a statutory order revoking planning permission – only the fifth such contested order in the past decade; and
- Recovery of planning appeal costs from local planning authorities.
Previous experience includes consultancy work for the Scottish and UK Governments in the fields of alcohol regulation and the administration of justice.
