WEINBERG AWARDED NOTARY

5th July 2007

Andrew Weinberg of leading Manchester law firm, Kuit Steinart Levy has become a Notary.  He is the second lawyer to be awarded the prestigious title at the firm and one of only 11 in the city.

Over the past few years, the need for Notaries has risen substantially following the formation of the EU and the internationalisation of the market for legal services, as well as the increasing number of foreign businesses and people moving into the UK.  Furthermore, the rising trend of UK residents looking to buy property abroad has also increased the demand for Notaries throughout England and Wales.

Notaries are considered to be at the pinnacle of the independent legal professions.  According to the Notaries Society website, there are currently less than 15 Notaries practicing in the North West so it is not surprising that their services have become extremely sought after.

Mr Weinberg commented: “Becoming a Notary has fulfilled a lifelong ambition for me.  It is an extremely interesting role where you meet people from all walks of life.  Most recently I was involved in a case where I had to verify documents for a Polish lawyer whose client was trying to recover property which had been "re allocated to a third party" following the murder of their family by the Nazis in the holocaust.  The survivors were trying to get back their property or be compensated by the Polish authorities.”

Mr Weinberg will continue to be based at Kuits’ office in St Mary’s Parsonage practicing as a solicitor in addition to his Notarial practice, which he runs with his colleague, Ellis Santhouse.
