Relaxation of Licensing Hours for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee

17-Oct-2011 Following success of the Royal Wedding back in April, the Government has launched a similar consultation asking for views on extending opening hours over the Diamond Jubilee weekend next year

The extension would allow pubs, bars and other licensed venues across England and Wales to sell alcohol and put on entertainment until 1am on two nights over the weekend of 2nd to 5th June 2012.

The Jubilee celebrations already span a 4-day weekend following the decision to move the late May Bank Holiday to Monday 4th June and the addition of a Jubilee Bank Holiday on Tuesday 5th June. The Government hopes that the proposed extension to licensing hours will enable communities to better celebrate the Queen’s 60 years on the throne, and make it easier for businesses to make that happen.

The Consultation runs until 1st December and you can have your say by visiting www.homeoffice.gov.uk

For more information regarding the Consultation or any licensing issue contact Felicity Harris-Knott
