Kuits helps Science in Sport cross the finish line
09-Feb-2011Manchester law firm Kuits Solicitors has advised sports nutrition client Science in Sport (SiS) Limited in litigation against a competitor.
Blackburn based SiS produces a wide range of sports nutrition supplements for athletes and sports stars. GB Rowing are a key ambassador for SiS products, having had great success at the 2010 World Championships with 34 British rowers returning as medalists. SiS also supplies teams and individuals across a number of other sporting disciplines, such as cycling, including the Saxo Bank Sungard Tour de France team.
SiS, advised by Ian Morris and Helen Harmel of the Intellectual Property team at Kuits, issued proceedings against competitor High5 after it claimed that certain formulations of its products achieved better results for athletes than those of SiS.
SiS disputed those claims and has received a comprehensive agreement that High5 will not mention SiS in any future advertising or comparative advertising campaign. High5 has also agreed to make a six figure payment to SiS towards its costs.
Tim Lawson, director of Science in Sport said that the company was delighted to bring proceedings to a conclusion so SiS can concentrate on making high quality sports nutritional products.
Ian Morris of Kuits said, “This is a substantial achievement for SiS and shows the importance of reputation management to firms in the modern age.”
