Kuits advises San Carlo in ‘Flying Pizza’ purchase

13-Jun-2011 Manchester law firm Kuits Solicitors has advised successful Italian restaurant chain San Carlo on the purchase of the well known ‘Flying Pizza’ restaurant in Leeds.

A team from Kuits advised San Carlo founder Carlo Distefano and co-director Marcello Distefano on the purchase of the ‘Flying Pizza’ after the restaurant went into administration on Friday 18th February.

The team from Kuits consisted of partners Martin Davies, Anthony Lyons and Ian Morris, senior associate Fiona Chadwick and solicitors Greg Phillips, Liz Swann and Claire Meyers. The team advised San Carlo on the purchase of the business and surrounding issues including intellectual property rights relating to the ‘Flying Pizza’ brand, TUPE issues in relation to existing employees, and property and licensing issues including the new lease and premises licence.

Martin Davies from Kuits commented, “This purchase highlights Carlo’s and Marcello’s ambition and their passion for the restaurant business, particularly as this purchase follows a significant period of growth for San Carlo. Over the last 6 months they have opened a new restaurant in Leeds, and the new Cicchetti concept in Manchester’s House of Fraser store, both of which Kuits advised on.”
