TheBusinessDesk.com - Smartkem investment
13-Jun-2011MANCHESTER law firm Kuits Solicitors has advised high-tech microelectronics company, Smartkem Ltd, on securing its latest round of investment.
The firm, which is developing new materials to allow high resolution screens to be imposed onto ultra-thin materials such as plastics or paper, is run by Liverpudlian Steve Kelly. He set up SmartKem in North Wales partly due to the easier access to funding from Finance Wales at a time when the North West's plan for its own equity fund hit continued delays.
The latest round of funding for Smartkem - its third to date - has come from Finance Wales and the Porton Capital Group.
Kelly said: “We are seeing considerable growth within this emerging industry and were delighted to secure this latest round of investment to gear the company towards further development. Kuits' advice and support was again of the highest quality.”
